As part of the lead up to Exchange, we’re really excited to be able to share our latest interview with one of our confirmed speakers, Andrea (Ange) Pattico

Ange leads the MVF People function and is responsible for co-creating and executing the People Strategy within MVF, a global customer generation service

Tell us a little bit about yourself? What was the journey that took you to MVF?

I’m passionate about people and how they help companies to be successful. I genuinely think everyone has gold in them; we are all capable of doing great things that can make a difference.  That’s what led me to MVF – the fact that MVF believes in growth, whether that’s through helping your business to grow through our customer generation services, or by helping our MVFers to grow by providing real career development and progression opportunities.  I try hard to create an environment at MVF that brings the gold out in others and drives them on to do amazing things within the business and outside of it. The minute I stepped foot into MVF offices, met everyone and saw their values being lived out loud, I just felt at home.

What do you think will be the major differentiator of the workplace of the future, as opposed to the way we work today?

In a nutshell, technology and a reshaping of what the ‘workplace’ is.  I remember watching a programme called ‘The Way We Were’ when I was at school and being fascinated with how people got by in the 1950s and 60’s without some of the technology I was using at school back in the 1980s and 90s.  Now my three nephews struggle to understand the concept of a DVD as they stream everything using a SMART TV.  Imagine what they’d make of a cassette player!  Technology moves incredibly fast and a lot of the tools we work with today will be obsolete in no time at all.  I also think the concept of a physical workplace won’t exist in the same way it does today – and this will happen sooner than we all think!

Which three people would be your ideal dinner guests?

This is hard as there are so many people I’d like to have a conversation with! I’m really family orientated so I’m doing this assuming that my husband and immediate family are also at the dinner – I wouldn’t be having a dinner without them!  So my three picks are:

1.  Jesus – Personally, I think he is a great example of what a leader should be and would love to pick his brains.
2.  Maya Angelou – she managed to find joy in her life even when she had lived through some terrible experiences.
3.  Finally, and I do have to cheat here, all of my Grandparents. Because of them, I am. My two Grandfathers died before I was born but I’d love to cook for all my Grandparents and say thank you to them for raising my phenomenal parents. I think that would make my parents smile too.

What are you reading/watching at the moment?

I try to read two books a month. At the moment I’m reading ‘Relentless’ by Tim S. Grover and ‘She’s Still There’ by Chrystal Evans Hurst.  ‘Relentless’ was gifted to me by two of my fab colleagues (Sam and Tom).  ‘She’s Still There’ just has the best quotes to shake, stir, annoy and motivate you to keep going.  I am obsessed with Chrystal Evans Hurst and her sister Priscilla Shirer – I listen to their videos and podcasts weekly, so in my head we’re all best friends!

What’s your most used app?

WhatsApp. I much prefer it to speaking on the phone – I’m an introvert! Next has to be Instagram, I love that it captures snapshots of moments in time.
